We move the couch to vacuum behind it and power-wash the front steps, but the gutters get forgotten. Eavestroughs need cleaning too, and we do it thoroughly.
Why eavestroughs need cleaning
Clogged eavestroughs overflow, and the water damages your foundation, causes leaks and eventually rots the roof. In winter, water freezes in the downspouts, expands, overloads the gutters and warps the fascia and soffit. Water can also back up under the shingles and form an ice dam.
How often?
We recommend cleaning every six months, or every four months or at each change of season in areas with heavy rain or snow. Summer storms and wind fill gutters with leaves and branches too.
